( HISTORY ) : Diane’s parents were both wealthy wizarding heirs who used their fortunes to travel the world, and for the first ten years of her life Diane went with them, never living in any one place for more than a year. They then moved to England so Diane could go to Hogwarts, despite the danger from Voldemort. There she was sorted into Ravenclaw. Diane initially proved popular thanks to her natural charisma, however eventually developed a reputation for having a sharp tongue and a habit of backstabbing.
While her first two summers in England were spent with her parents, they moved away during her 3rd year. She then spent her summers between friends’ houses and a small apartment in Diagon Alley her parents paid for. Times when she was alone were often spent in libraries and among Muggles, learning about them.
In her 6th year her DADA teacher gave her access to the restricted section of the library for private advanced studies. While she initially used the information to develop new defenses, it upset her to see the theory behind spells and not practice them. When she, quite by chance, discovered the Room of Requirement, she soon began using it to practice the Dark Arts, withdrawing from her classmates attentions in favor of spending all her time in the room. She didn’t let her studies lapse, however, and graduated from Hogwarts with top marks.
Since then, she has lived in the same small apartment in Diagon alley, getting jobs when she can but rarely putting any effort into keeping them. Her neighbors know her to have a short temper and don’t bother to try and maintain a relationship with her. Despite her continuing experimentation into the Dark Arts, she has no interest in joining the Death Eaters, seeing them as pack-like and foolish.
( PERSONALITY ) : Diane’s passion, first and foremost, is knowledge. She has little empathy for people who aren’t as well educated as her or who cannot keep up with her logic. She can be a smooth talker if she wants something from someone, but doesn’t bother to maintain most relationships. She tends to come off as humorless, but this isn’t quite true- she just doesn’t laugh at the jokes of anyone she doesn’t respect, and doesn’t respect many people.
(APPEARANCE ) : Diane has sleek black hair that falls just between her shoulders when loose, but most often wears it up in a ponytail. Her eyes are dark grey and she wears glasses with black wire frames. Most of her clothes are nice but well worn.
