( HISTORY ) : Tessa is the daughter of an Order member and a muggle. She's an only child and spoiled rotten by grandparents on both sides. Her mother, a muggle, made a life by creating a giant animal shelter, called Cherry Canyon, in Italy. She and Tessa's father met one day when he came as a volunteer to help out and they fell in love. Having Tessa was a huge step, they took the time away from their full devotion to the animals to raise her, though often enough she took her naps in kennels with the dogs she had been playing with while her parents did work. Tessa 's family never really had to worry about money and food, they could take care of the animals via her father's magic without too much need for outside help, so the money that they did generate helped them to survive.
Tessa's "uncle," Wilson, was a wizard and he lived with the family. It was through him that Tessa learned about magic and fell completely in love with spells. For a while, the entire family believe that she wouldn't have magical abilities, nothing ever happened. At eleven, she got her letter to Hogwarts, still having shown no signs of magic. It wasn't until Tessa and her family arrived in Diagon Alley that she showed any powers. Tessa, a firm animal lover, saw a woman hit a dog in an alley. The woman was suddenly bound by what seemed to be invisible vines until Tessa was calmed down by her uncle. They never doubted her magic again.
Her first year at Hogwarts was a tumultuous one for her. Many of the children of her parents' friends were in different houses. Tessa grew up hearing that Slytherin was an awful house; she was sorted into it. She started to suffer from depression, because she wasn't good enough to be a Gryffindor like her uncle or kind enough to be a Hufflepuff like her father. She was just not enough. That year defined the rest of her years. Vague in discussion, withdrawn, uninterested in people and activities, sullen most of the time...it was as though she was in a different world. She hardly remember her third year, the year of the Triwizard Tournament, because she spent many of the hours that people were spectating alone in the common room.
( PERSONALITY ) : Tessa seems to be a very angry and moody type because she is so withdrawn. She very rarely pays any attention to what other people say to her and tries her best to distance herself from anything involving contact. The only times she ever really seems alive is when she is around animals, who understand her better than humans ever could. She cares a lot, but she has learned that hiding her true self is best for everybody. People didn't know her father was in the Order, but her housemates easily made her an outcast when they realized he was married to a muggle and not a Death Eater. For that reason, she feels completely out of place at Hogwarts.
(APPEARANCE ) : A natural brunette, Tessa goes back and forth between using magic to color her hair blonde, brown, and black. She has fair skin and stunningly light blue eyes, so she can fit any hair color. Typically she does not wear make up and she's not big on making her hair anything special. Tessa prefers the natural look, saying that animals trust you more when you are being yourself and not hiding behind a mask. She spends most of her time in wizards robes, not as keen as the rest of the students to walk around in muggle attire when in a wizard's world. At home, she sports jeans and a tee shirt for almost all occasions, and generally pulls her hair back in a low pony tail to keep it out of the way. She considers herself to be "nothing fancy, but nothing short of extraordinary."
